ATP World Tour 500 Dubai: Federer vs Becker
ATP 500 Dubai just began today and i watched Roger Federer
in the first round against Benjamin Becker from Germany.
Roger Federer appeared here 11 times before and he won the
cup 5 times here! He had 77 ATP titles which is a great record. On the other
hand, Becker (93) played here only 2 times and could not pass the 1st round.
Additionally these two players faced 3 times and RF won all of them.
When you look at the statistics, it is easy to understand
that favourite of the match is Federer. I believe that in sports anything can
possible for any player. With this point of view i started to watch the match.
First set started with Roger Federer’s serve. He was comfortable
with his service game. He had a chance to break his opponent service in the
second game. Only in 12 minutes score was 3-0 for Fedex! He looked to be in a
hurry today! There was no coming back from Becker in the first set, in 22
minutes Fedex took the first set 6-1.
In the second set, Becker started a bit better, at least he
could hold his service game till 3-3. In the 7th game, Federer broke his service
and moved on. The only interesting part of the match was the moment Becker had a break point when Roger
Federer was serving for the match! RF saved the breaking point and won the
game, set and match in an hour: 6-1, 6-4
It was just like a prep match for RF. Becker made 22
unforced errors while RF made 11. There
were no long rallies, only 2 or 3 times in the second set , there was an action
on court, other than that it was a pretty static and one-sided match for Roger
Federer.
