Great Semi-final Match in Dubai 500 Masters: Federer vs Djokovic
Tonight i watched a great match between two of the world’s best tennis players in
semi-final Dubai. “Majesty” Roger Federer (6) and great Serbian Novak Djokovic
(2) performed great quality of tennis. As a fan, it was a great joy to watch
it.
This match was also important to analyze Roger Federer’s
performance for me. As he was not at his best form in the tournament so far, this
match was another test to understand if he is improving his game or not after
Edberg. On the other hand, Djokovic said in a interwiev that he felt a bit
“rusty” and want to get over it. He also
had a disappoinment in Australian Open last month losing Wawrinka in the QF.
Federer couldn’t make a good start to the match, Djokovic
broke his service game very early in the opener and after Federer could not
break back. It was the summary of the first set 3-6.
In the second set, Roger Federer played more aggresively,
better at his serve’s and better backhands, he got the result and broke
Djokovic service. Rallies were tasteful, match was enjoyable, most important
thing is to watch how Federer can come back after dropping the first set and
taking the second one in very dominant way. Roger Federer have not beaten him
for the last 18 months so it was a big pressure point for him to beat Djokovic.
In the decider, Djokovic gifted a service game to Federer
and thus RF carried the score to 4-1 after he had saved 15/40 in his serve. Roger
Federer was fantastic tonight, he played just he had to do. His backhands were
very good, he sent some deep shots that can be shown in tennis acedemies as
best examples of its kind.Djokovic was not bad but i guess he is having trouble
about changing coach. This win means a lot to Roger Federer. Thus he leads 17-15 in the ATP series against
Djokovic.
Last year’s runner-up Tomas Berdych and Roger Federer will
play a final match tomorrow. If Federer plays like today, it is for sure that
Berydch will have a very tough time on court. Roger Federer will play his 115.
final in ATP which is a record and if he wins he will get the trophy for 77th
times. For me, Roger Federer is a great player of all times. I am so happy to watch
him in a great performance again.
