One of the best times of the year: Australian Open

Day 1 in Melbourne:

It has been a year since i didn’t write anything about tennis, it is not that i didn’t watch anything, i watched many matches but i didn’t feel like to write. This year i have a great chance to watch all the matches in Melbourne live and i am really excited about it.

First day in Melbourne is just about to finish and the last match is between Serena Williams and 17 yearsold Aussie Ashleigh Barty. I will get back to that but first i can give you a quick review about the first day of the tournament:

This year begins with some cool news such as Roger Federer has started to work with great Stefan Edberg and Novak Djokovic with Boris Becker! I am not sure how these two big champions can contribute so much good effect both on two super champions but it is really cool to see them in the player box! As Ivan lendl had a great positive impact on Andy Murray, it is possible that Edberg and Becker will have good impact with the new partners. For me, Roger Fededer is born for playing tennis and he achieved great success that all tennis world accept it. As he gets older, he wants to continue to play because he is stil very good at tennis, he  loves it and he already proven himself in any way possible. It is sure that Edberg brings some motivation but i have this question in my mind: what can you give a player who has already had everything? We will see that answer.

For Djokovic side, it is a bit different story, as far as i know Marian Vajda wanted to spend more time with his family , as he is with Novak for 18 years. It may cause an earthquake in Novak’s emotional world as we remember that he is only 26 and they are together for 18 years! So also Boris Becker has a very ambitious and strong personality, they need to get used to each other for a while. I hope it will not effect him in a bad way.

The first day i have watched 3 matches so far:) As i follow the first day results like that:  Julia Georges from Germany beat Italian Sera Errani (7). And Petra Kvitova (6) is defeated by a Thailand player Luxina Kumkhum(88). I watched that match and i can say that she deserved that win absolutely, Kvitova looked so unmotivated and tired. Kumkhum did not win just she played so good, she won it because Kvitova was just like sleeping in the court.

For the men side, i am big fan of Novak Djokovic. He had a good match with Slovakian Lucas Lacko. He had a very little tough time during the second set, otherwise it was a pretty good and easy match for Novak. He took the match in 3 sets which was not a surprise. This year he had a great draw, really easy one. It seems that he can go very easily till the final. On the other hand; Rafa, Andy and Roger is in the same line which means that we will lose one or two of them very early:/

Lets get back to the Williams (1) vs Barty match. As Serena is the super player of the woman tennis, i think 17 yearsold Barty is super lucky! Imagine that you are not in the first 150 as a player and how possible that you can have a match with world number one? Serena is 32 years old, it means that Barty was watching her matches while growing up! I think the only way she can learn a lot from this match is to play bravely. Otherwise she doesn’t have any chance, i agree that sometimes super champions is beaten by new talents but it is rare situation. So what she can do here is to enjoy the time that she spends with her and do her best to stay more on the court. It is first set now, 6-2 Serana got it. I like Barty so far, she had 2 games which is very important to get it from the world number one. Serena has won 17 Grand Slam titles so far and 5 times Australian Open champion.  And if she wins this tournament this year, she will catch Navratilova and Evert, which is a super record.

I have been watching tennnis over 20 years, what i see in the big players , i mean their attitudes towards the game and opponet; they are very diciplined and never underestimate the rivals. Serena is just running every ball that Barty sends. She takes it so seriously and i really find it so important. They are full motivated, diciplined and they take every point very seriously. Second set of the match, Serena is 4-0. Barty is working a lot, hope she can take her service game soon. It will be good for her to feel a bit better. As Barty is playing home, audience supports her crazily, as she is playing against Serena at the age of 17. Finally she got her game and very happy about it. As she can consider this match a lesson of a lifetime, i am sure she will get the benefits of it later. I like Barty, she is positive players, during the match i can see that from her body language that she has a positive mind and trying to enjoy every minute. Serena Williams took the match in 2 sets: 6-2, 6-1.

Tomorrow Federer, Rafa, Masha, Murray will be on court. I will be in front of TV, see you soon:)
