Sony Open Semi-Final Match: Serena Williams vs Maria Sharapova

For a while i haven’t written any of the matches that i watched. But today i got that inspiration of Sharapova- S. Willams SF match in Sony Open in Miami. 

I really respect and care so much about Venus Willams. I think she and her sister are very important for women tennis to impove over the years. Although Serena is 32 yearsold, she shows us that age does not matter! She is world number 1 and a great player.

On the other hand, former  world number one Maria Sharapova is a star player, has a great technique and determination. She suffered a lot from injuries over the years but she always fights back.

Last time i remember these two players faced with each other, Serana defeated Masha very quickly. One thing is about Serena is, if she can focus on game and make a good start, rest comes so easily. But sometimes she is not in a good mood and never finds her pace during the match which makes her lose it. They played 17 times with each other before and Serena leads 15-2.

Today, Masha is the one who made a good start and has broken Serena’s service early in the set.. Masha comes to the net more often than her rival and got the points. In hard court, they playes 10 times before and Serena won 9 times of it. In the first set in 4-2 in Masha’s service, Serena sent very deep balls to the corners and make Masha run acroos the court and has found a way to break her service. I think if Serena keeps her service in 3-4 down and make it 4-4 , she will take the set. Serena has great serves today and made 4 aces so far. I like the way she fights, i really like her ambition and desire for winning. Serena attacked masterfully and has broken her rival’s service once more. Both players are very qualified, high level players. They both have vast repertoire of shots, but the thing is when Serena finds her pace, it is almost imposibble to stop her. First set 6-4 Serena.

There are very very few players in the world that while playing against Masha and 4-1 down , can make the score 6-4. That is why Serena Williams is world number one. Her skills, her confidence and her strength makes her very dangereous and important player.

If Masha lose her service game early in the second set, there won’t be any chance for her to come back.

At the beginning of  the second set players has broken service games mutually. Sharapova having tough times to win her service games while Serena takes her games easily. It is not a good sign for Masha. It is 3-3 now in the second set and very important game for the match. if Serena can break this service, she will get a great chance to win the match. And yes she has done it, broken Masha’s service and took the second set 6-3 and the match 6-4, 6-3.

She will be playing the winner of Li Na- Cibulkova match in the final. Serena Williams won 6 Miami Masters titles before. I’d love to see her win here again!
