Australian Open 2016

I love all Grand Slam tournaments but Australian Open is special. It is great to see sun is shining on the sky while we are in the middle of cold winter here. First Grand Slam of the year is also very important to make a good start to a long tennis season for all players.

The first day of the Australian Open 7 of 16 seed players in women side defeated by unseeded players. Playing in Grand Slams is a different thing. I think every player has a chance to make a difference. This is a 2 week long tournament and there is many factors related performance.

First week of Grand Slams normally is not very excited. There are many unseeded players, mostly players in top ten in ranks, go without losing. Nevertheless, there is always surprises like Andrea Petkovic (22), Caroline Wozniacki (16) or Sera Errani (17) defeated by unseeded opponents today in the first round matches.

Today I watched matches of Roger Federer, Jo-Wilfred Tsonga, Maria Sharapova and Nick Kyrgios. All of them passed their rivals easily. My all time favourite player Roger Federer. I really want him to win another Grand Slam this year, especially here in Melbourne. Considering Novak Djokovic is in a great shape and had a wonderful season last year, I am not sure if he can pass him. Djokovic and Federer in the same line for the draws which means they may face in semis before the final.

However, It is very early to make predictions. But what i know is, this tournament will be great for all the fans who love tennis. It has a great atmosphere and i love players!

Every day I want to watch 2-3 matches! I am a big fan of the game and I am really so excited. Tomorrow Rafa Nadal has a though 1st round draw who is Fernando Verdasco. I hope he can survive it. i think it is a very risky match. On the other hand, this year is the 20th year of " Rusty" Lleyton Hewitt play in Melbourne which is a record and also he will retire after this tournament which makes the match very very special tomorrow. Also Andy Murray, Stan Wawrinka, Venus Williams, Gabine Muguruza and many others will be on court.

Before finishing , today , BBC revealed that there are some evidences about  match fixing in tennis world involving players in top 50. This is very serious and big news so far. This issue must be enlightened and totally solved in order to finalize any kind of suspicion for any match will be played in future. I love athletes and sports very much. I believe that sport sector and all the players in all kinds of sports should be ethical and have high moral standards. Like Turkey's founder Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's famous saying: I love athletes who is smart, nimble but who is also ethical.
