2018 MUTUA MADRID OPEN MEN'S CHAMPION: ALEXANDER ZVEREV !!!!

It has been a great week for tennis at Mutua Madrid Open 2018. There are many surprises , huge upsets, wonderful rallies, exciting matches happened in Madrid.

Men's Final tonight is just like a reminder for all of us that Next Generation of tennis is getting stronger and powerful day by day. It makes me feel that we should get use to see these guys more often in the finals.

Today's finalist 24 years old Dominic Thiem beat Rafa Nadal 2 days ago. I literally shocked. Not because Thiem is not a good player but because I was %100 sure that Rafa will be the champion here. This defeat makes me remember that this game is very dynamic, exciting and full of surprises. You will never know exactly who will win or lose. I think this perception hold players on the path. Because If you work hard enough and believe in yourself, you can beat anyone. Even the king of clay!

Other finalist 21 years old Alex Zverev is a very special player. He is very talented for sure but what makes me love him is that he is very fond of tennis. That mood really passes me from Tv when he is playing on court. He really likes playing this game and enjoys the ride. He is a very focused player. It looks like there is great road map drawn for him and he is very willing to follow it.

Alex Zverev has a great service game. Very fast, very solid, very confident. It is almost unbreakable. When your service game is this strong, you become dominant against your opponent. When your rival is a bit sloppy, there you find your shot and finish it. It happened like that yesterday when Zverev played against Denis Shapovalov. Today it was similar. Thiem was better at reaction to Zverev's balls but neverthless if you are not %100 at your service game, you can not stand strong.

Alex Zverev had a great week here in terms of playing his game. He deserved this 3rd ATP 1000 Masters Championship as well as he is World No. 3 at this young age.

I think Dominic Thiem could have done better but as he couldn't break Zverev's service game, he felt uncomfortable, lost his focus and confidence and that reflected on his game. Consequently Alexander Zverev defeated Dominic Thiem 6-4, 6-3 and become the 2018 Mutua Madrid Open Champion.

I congratulate both players. As I am watching this game like 30 years, it is always great pleasure to witness the welcoming new generations whilst older guys starts to get wounds.
