A very hot day in Melbourne: Review of day 4

From the beginning of the tournament, weather is extremely hot and players are not happy about it. Finally today the organisation committe applied the “extremely hot procedure” by canceling some games for couple of hours ahead and close the roofs of Rod Laver and Hisense Arena. It is again so hot but better of course.

I could watch very little of Federer and Nadal matches today. I am glad to see them in the 3rd round. I was so sure about  Nadal that he could pass his opponent easily as he is having a great season but Federer sometimes makes me worry for him. When i opened TV, it was the 3rd set of the match of Federer and at the same time Nadal was playing on another court. Federer is always good at tie-breaks, he took it and finished the match in 3 sets against Kavcic(Slo) :6-2, 6-1, 7-6

I love Nadal, when he was away from the courts, his absence was so significant such  that tournaments was not that attracting enough. It is great to have him back with a great shape. He played against a young Aussie Kokkinakis. I could only watch for a few games , 17 yearsold Aussie has the support of the audience naturally but of course no one was waiting for him to beat Nadal. Rafa was good as always and took the match : 6-2, 6-4, 6-2

One of the best athletes in the tour is Gael Monfils. He had suffered a lot from his knee and still he is not his best shape but when he does he can beat anyone. He has a great pyhsical power, he is so quick, he is so elastic, he is everywhere in the court and he is so sympathetic player. I don’t like French players much such as G.Simon, M. Bartoli, R. Gasquet but i like him and also J. Tsonga a lot. These two players matches has always contains much action and fun. Today it is again a agood match to watch: He defeated Jack Sock: 7-6, 7-5, 6-2

I was waiting And Murray’s match today, he faced with another French guy V.Millot ranked 276, and first two sets were one sided dominated by Murray.  But in the 3rd set something magical happened and  Millot’s game changed. Maybe he just told himself that nothing to lose and why not play more bravely. In the third set it was 5-1 and and Millot was serving but he could not take the chance . Murray made 23 consecutive points and did make a great come back and won the match: 6-2, 6-2, 7-5.  It is for sure that Murray is much much better player than him but this is one thing about tennis that game is so momentary. I mean you have to make the right deicision every second and  if you can focus hard enough you can achieve the things that you had never done before. Today Millot did it for some time, and then he lost the pace and the mood. This inconsisitency is the habits of most of the players. I think this is significant difference between the top players and the others.

I also could watch some sets of B.Paire (Fra) vs N.Krygios ( Aus) match. Krygios did amazing job and took the first two sets in a great mood that crazy crowd was behind of him. Paire did not stop fighting back and took the next two sets. At the  the beginning of the 5th set he injured his knee but he insisted to play. Paire took his chances and defeated him 6-7, 6-7, 6-4, 6-2, 6-2.

Today’s bad surprise is that great Juan Martin Del Potro is out of the tournament in the second round! I am big fan of him and i really felt so bad when he lost the match. I must say that his rival Bautista played great with a stubborn determination. He worked a lot in the court and he responded every ball that JM sent to him. He deserved the victory for sure but neverthless i am not happy for the result. Spanish players are natural born good ones and every one of them is dangereous. Bautista shows us that he is not an exception too. He will play against Paire in the third round. As i watch these two guys today, i think Bautista will be the winner.
