An Epic Match: Wawrinka vs Djokovic

Last year here in Melbourne in the 4th round, Stanislas Wawrinka and Novak Djokovic played a great match in 5 sets. At the end of it, Djokovic took the 5th set 12-10 and won the match but for me there was no loser in the meaning of deserving to win it. Today my expectation and i guess everybody’s expectation is same like that. Audience wanted to watch a same kind of match like last year.

In the first set, unlike last year Stan was not that effective, Djoker started so dominant and controlled the game and took the the first set 6-2. I thought that if Stan continue to play like that it is inevitable that Djokovic would take the match in 3 sets but no more. But fortunately Stan stood up and began to serve much better, lower his unforced errors and with his strong single handed backhand took the next 2 sets 6-4, 6-2.

4th set was very important for Djokovic as he would decide to go on or not. But Djoker is one of the best warriors in tennis world. He has a very strong mind, he believes himself so much, such a confident player. I knew that he did not let it go, so he did a great effort and took the 4th set 6-3.  Players in that A level is so close to each other. Ofcourse they have different most strong sides comparing to each other but in the overall they are close in techinical and mental level. There are only slight differences that mostly determine the winner. Djokovic is the most fit player in the ATP tour for me. He has a strong mind. Why didn’t make it today? I guess in the 5th after 7-7, it would be fair that 2 players deserved to win the match. It was obvious that one would make a mistake before the other player did. Djokovic would have won today. This defeat does not mean that he did a bad job. He did a great job. But this time Stanimal was better than him and he deserved this great victory so much. Although i love Djoker , i am very happy that Stan won this match because after losing him twice in 5 sets matches, he needs that win so much to become more confident player and believe in himself that he is one of the best players in the world.

Stan will play Tomas Berdcyh in the semifinal. He got tired a lot today, he needs to recover physically. It is hard to say who will win but today we saw a great determined player on court. If he can continiue to play like today, his place will be in the final.
